Welcome to the very first post of the prestigious and (soon to be) award winning blog, Plating the Planet. The rules here are simple, we live on a huge planet with tons of food. On this planet, every continent, country, city, town, nook, cranny, etc. has its own way of preparing said food. My goal is to discover and recreate (to the best of my ability) a staple dish from every country in the world while simultaneously attempting to understand what makes that meal so special to that culture. Just as a forewarning, I am no cooking prodigy nor am I going to try to claim to be one. I am going to recreate these dishes to the best of MY ability. There is a very good chance that I will inevitably and accidentally make one or more of these meals “incorrectly” and that will just have to be part of the learning process for me. To make up for what I lack in talent, I will try to make up in research, hence why I am going to study into what makes each type of food culturally important and discuss this in each post. As another forewarning, I refuse to attest to be a writing prodigy (yet) as you might have learned by this point in reading this. I realistically do not expect this to reach an audience further than my own mother (even that’s a stretch) so the writing should not be too much of an issue. If for any reason there is a person out there that has made it this far, if you have any critiques, suggestions, or extra info on the meals I make then let me know. I’m just having fun with this so I would love to learn what anyone else has to say. Anyway enough talking, let’s get this show on the road.
